What's the best way to take advantage of an 11 2 speaker setup? : hometheater

If you were to draw lines coming from the speakers, they should meet at ear level in the center of the room. Resolution is one of the key factors when trying to improve your TV's picture. The more pixels, the higher the resolution. This is why 2160p, also known as "4K Ultra HD", is more expensive than 1080p (also known as "Full HD") or 720p.The “p” stands for the number of pixels on the vertical edge of the screen. More pixels give the picture better clarity and color. Space - As mentioned in the last step, your home's size will limit things like TV screen size, speaker strength, and more.

What would be my options then if I don't double up the speakers. Just pay the cost to get the new 11.2 receiver because if thats the case I probably won't ever update. I've actually thought about just removing 2 of my overheads so I only have 2 so I can save money on the receiver but if I did that then I might as well just double up the speakers I'm sure the receiver has enough power to push all 4. All receivers I have seen/used so far allow me to connect all speakers, but I have to choose between one of two 9.2 configs - it'll use all speakers with the exception of either the pair of front wides, or the pair of front highs. As the title states, I have an 11.2 speaker setup. The standard 5 with 2 large subwoofers, plus 2 high rears, 2 high in front, and 2 wide in front.

I have an Onkyo TX-NR3010 with that setup, and I know Denon has one or two models. I was reading the thread and wondering if while running the 2 subs if they should match. I have a 12" cerwin vega sub, and I just picked up a 15" VMX cerwin vega.

Not sure what software would play video with that many channels though. I am going with the typical 7.1 configuration only now I will be adding 2 subs instead of one but in addition I will be adding 4 more speakers at a higher level to accomodate the balcony level. So there will be 2 speakers for the LS, 2 speakers for the RS, 2 speakers for the LrearS, 2 speakers for the RrearS, and the usual LCR speakers which gives me a total of 11 speakers. Arendal speakers and subs either theirs or the usual suspects would be a good choice.

Choosing and Installing the Speakers

If you have an entertainment center, place your TV in its slot and feed the power cable out the back of the unit.Leave plenty of space between your entertainment center and the wall until you've finished setting up the entire entertainment center. Determine where you want to set up your home theater. It's easy to get carried away while buying equipment only to realize that your TV and/or speakers are too big for your living room!

The only reason I can see someone spending this much on this receiver is precisely for the 11.2 capability. Thanks to all authors for creating a page that has been read 232,936 times. You can buy wireless speakers or a soundbar, both of which are easier to hide than traditional external speakers. Put your subwoofer along the front wall, preferably in the middle. The subwoofer brings the big, gut-trembling bass notes and works best up against a wall.

A good 5.1-channel system will give you a full surround sound experience. Most DVD and Blu-ray™ media, some Super Audio CDs , broadcast TV, and many streaming sources are in 5.1-channel format. Enjoy the best sound from your home theater when you optimize your speakers' positions.

Speaker wire is actually two attached wires, a red and a black. The wire runs from the back of the speaker to the receiver's “Audio Output” ports. Connect one wire to the red “input” on your speaker and the red “output” on the receiver and do the same with the black end to connect your speaker. Some modern speakers have plugs instead of speaker wiring.

The 15" is run on an ashly 800pe amp bridged at 2ohms in a sealed box. My goal with the subs is for a full sound/environment. I was planning on running the subs on opposite corners. One in front other in the rear 12" was going to be the rear. If that is infact the case then it would be logical to say you are wasting money on extra speakers and wire if you don't have a multi row theater. I have seen at least one other person setup speakers all around his room , and he sez it works great. But considering some of his posts, I have my doubts about it really sounding good, or being cost effective. Make sure the location that you choose for your equipment is well ventilated, as overheating is a big problem with powerful amplifiers and A/V receivers. Depending on your location, it might make more sense to install in-ceiling speakers when configuring your surround sound, as doing so will ensure a cleaner, more authentic surround sound experience.

In this case, the wires are color coded for easy access. I think this is probably how 11.2 works - as four additional presence channels which carry the echo, reverb, etc. to simulate a different acoustic venue such as hall, theater, etc. You would be best off to check your owners manual and see if there is an explanation of 11.2. Also I think Audioholics did a review of 11.2 in your receiver and that may explain the differences. I use Yamaha presence channels and I like some of the modes, but there are a lot of audioholics that don't like that simulated environment sound, so I would read up a little more before buying four more speakers.

Attach the media player directly to the TV , skipping the receiver, to make sure that the media player works. Since most of your other non-audio components will go here as well, placing the receiver below the TV ensures that each of your components will be able to reach the receiver without stretching. Don't feel like you need to buy a huge, expensive receiver with more inputs and outputs than you need.
